The Gremlin in the Parking Lot Part 1

By Allan Angel August 9, 2022           Georgie stopped eating inside the building. He opted to go outside in the parking lot for his lunch at 8:30 pm. He worked swing shift from 5 pm to 1:30 the next morning. Since the pandemic hit, he was hesitant in removing his mask in the vicinity of his co-workers.           He has had the most horrendous experience working with people in the plant. The job in itself wasn’t the most arduous task of the work night, it was dealing with people whose behavior were at times erratic and cruel. He never knew when one would blow off. He never got used to it.           It was a night like any other night. He would walk to his car, a Chevy Cruze 2018, about 200 feet away parked under a tree, if he was lucky, and open his saran wrapped Tupperware to eat whatever meal he had, most likely cooked by his 85 year old mother. A Squirrel times four           But something weird seemed to emanate, almost as if evil spirits were seeping its

Spike The Terror of Power

By Allan Angel August 8, 2022 It was 1996, and I was very artistically inclined to do something different. I wanted to write what kids wanted to read in comic books. My cousin Hilda for one reason or another always hanged around my studio.   She was 8 at the time and we would have dance parties playing Madonna songs along with my other cousins. We had our own Madonna fan club and she was responsible for getting me my second set of Madonna polaroids with that entertaining interaction at Madonna’s Las Vegas show. Spike a comic book written by an eight year old girl. By Allan Angel and Hilda Acasio. An irreverent comic book for adults only co written by an eight year old girl. G-Rated I wanted a G-rated comic book, but I didn’t know how. I had gotten used to the adult type independent comic books such as those from Vortex comics like Black Kiss by Howard Chaykin. Ironically, my bible teacher had a last name like him but she authored Christian books, 2 of the characters dedicated

My Couture: The Silk Road

By Allan Angel March 28, 2022 My cousin asked me how I could not be bitter. How comic books was my entire life and never once given a chance. So I told her about the silk road . How it bridged the gap between nations and cultures. How people were able to trade each other’s resources and spices giving people the luxury of the richness this world has to offer. The silk road is much like the system of trade in modern times. The road being the channels governed by unscrupulous corporations trying and succeeding in controlling every facet that free trade sought to uphold – reaping the benefits of one’s work. An incentive that made Americans think that through hard work, dreams will come true. Along this road companies found cheaper ways to produce things and in the name of efficiency basically gave its own people the middle finger. They outsourced the drawings to places like the middle east, poorer countries willing to work a half penny on the dollar. Should I be bitter? The result
Madonnna Wine Collection | Confessions on a Dance Floor | Madonna Memorabilia | Gennewwine | Madonna "Confessions on a Dance Floor" Wine collection By Allan Angel March 16, 2022 If it's bitter at the start, it’s sweeter in the end. So goes the song Get Together by Madonna in her album Confessions on a Dance Floor , probably one of the greatest albums she has ever made. To commemorate the album Madonna released a series of wines exclusively through Live Nation a relationship she started when her contract for Warner Records expired. This is the Madonna "Confessions on a Dance Floor" Wine collection. Madonna Wine Collection inspired by Confessions on a Dance Floor album One of the rules I set up when collecting memorabilia is to collect only those that has been licensed and approved for release officially, something that wasn’t just produced in someone's basement or had no concrete evidence of its existence which can be verified. When the Madonna "Conf

Expect the unexpected because people think differently. Think about the most impossible scenario happening, because it most likely will. Allan Angel Suit Version 1 I met a seamstress in another country who claimed to have the best staff on hand and was the best at what she did. She said there were others who wanted to work with her but she refused their offers. According to her, based on my face and the kindness I exuded to people she would only work with me. I believed her upon helping me manufacture the product line for Baby Warriors- a comic book published by Integrity Comics and distributed by Gennewwine . And many more astonishing designs yet to be revealed. My Couture Issue 2 I selected the fabric personally from an annual sal

Madonna made me realize the style of fashion. Through her, I became acquainted with designers like Gaultier (I can’t pronounce the word), Versace, and Dolce and Gabbana. Her music videos from Like a Virgin to Into the Groove, the way she presented herself exuded fashion that I could relate to. It was costumey without being costumey, a comic book character come to life.       A cousin whom I grew up with, also heavily inspired by Madonna, started collecting designer vintage fashion from the likes of Versace, Pucci, Coco Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, Michael Kors, Marchessa Notte, and Betsey Johnson just to name a few. Joji, my cousin, opened me up to a woman’s perspective regarding fashion. Although she concedes I have a natural eye for good fashion, she also made me understand that upon looking at a Michael Kors dress at Nordstrom in all its banality that I too conceded that he had good fashion sense albeit relegated to a demogra
Lost Legends grew out of my need to make a statement about racism, bullying, in the guise of 8 year old kids who gain powers from a comet set in 1978 much like Netflix’s Stranger Things, except written in 2006 and released in 2008 in glorious glossy format. If I remember correctly Roseanne Barr once said that television was where the population learned about moral values or something to that effect, a tool to educate the masses about life.       I have done so many genres in this field that I wanted to put out an educational comic book meant for kids. I grew up on socially conscious tv shows since the 70s like Maude, Facts of Life, The Jeffersons, Good Times, Roseanne, Life Goes On, etc. so it was inevitable. I grew up on comic book artist George Perez’s artwork in titles like The New Teen Titans, The Avengers, The Incredible Hulk, Wonder Woman, and numerous cameos in Superman and Batman that set the stage for movies starring Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, A
